James Cook was born locally and considered by many to the world’s finest explorer of his time. Before joining then navy he had worked on collier ships carrying coal and this ship is a converted collier. Having 3 masts it is a fully rigged ship.

The Endeavour was used to lead a scientific mission to the Pacific. It was an event filled mission that included observing the 1769 transit of Venus across the Sun and becoming the first ship to reach the East Coast of Australia.
