Concord's Civil War Monument is located in the middle of Monument Square in the center of the Town.

A 30' high granite obelisk with bronze plaques in the center of Concord, MA is dedicated to the memory of the Civil war veterans who were born, lived of were buried in Concord. The monument was designed by Hammatt Billings and erected in 1866, shortly after the Civil War ended, and dedicated on April 19, 1867.

Granite blocks are arranged on a large square granite base. The north and south sides of the base have granite inscriptions while the east and west faces have bronze plaques.

The north face of the monument is inscribed in raised granite letters:

1861
TO
1865.

The south face of the monument is inscribed in raised granite letters:

FAITHFUL
UNTO
DEATH.

An east facing bronze plaque contains the dedication:

TOWN OF CONCORD
BUILDS THIS MOMUMENT
IN HONOR OF
THE BRAVE MEN
WHOSE NAME IT BEARS
AND RECORDS
WITH GRATEFUL PRIDE
THAT THEY FOUND HERE
A BIRTHPLACE, HOME OR GRAVE,
1866

A west facing bronze plaque contains a three column list of names of those who died and the following inscription:

THEY DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE
WAR OF THE REBELLION
