From information plaque:
"This cannon was cast at the Carron Works, Scotland, 1806, and has the royal cypher of George III(G.R.) on the second reinforce. It formed part of the fortifications at Fort MacQuarie, Sydney. This class of gun was in use on shore batteries and H.M. ships through the period of the nineteenth century until breach loading guns displaced them."
