This post is a state line boundary marker, located at the Methuen, MA, and Salem, NH border. It is the 117th marker post east from the NH southwest corner, set along the MA/NH border. It is at the east side of State Route 28, south of a junction with Hampshire Road.
The post is granite, 14 inches square and stands about 4 feet above ground level. The top is flat, with a groove cut across it, denoting the actual border line. There is a dressed face on the north side of the post, with the inscription -S NH 1890-, representing the Salem, NH side, and a dressed face on the south side, with the inscription -M MASS 1890-, for the Methuen, MA side.
There is a hole in the southeast top corner of the post for reasons unknown.
