The town of Nekimi was created on February 12, 1850 as the town of Brighton, WI. Changing its name in the late 1890's to Nekimi. The town is about 15 miles southwest of Oshkosh, WI which is the location of the closest post office.

The building is made of a medal and the corners are covered with artificial rock. The firehouse sits next to the town hall.
