The Sand Ladder Stairway connects Lincoln Boulevard to North Baker Beach. The steps consist of 10 foot long timber logs sections placed in the sand and tied together to anchor them.

Traveling south along San Francisco's Lincoln Boulevard at N 37° 47.778 W 122° 28.781 is a parking lot next to the trailhead for the Sand Ladder Stairway to North Baker Beach. Parking here is limited to about 20 cars.

A short distance from this trailhead is the top of Sand Ladder Stairway (posted coordinates). The steps are made from 200 pole sections about 10 feet long and tied together to hold them in the sand. Each step is a sandy surface this is neither firm and nor stable. The elevation change to the beach is about 120 feet.

At the bottom of the dune trail sand ladder is North Baker Beach.
