The Birchbank Golf Course, AKA The Rossland Trail Country Club, is located on Highway 22, 8 km north of Trail, BC. It is a fairly level course close to the west bank of the Columbia River. A truly monstrous 90 degree hook off #10 could conceivably reach the river, as it's only 150 yards to the left. The course plays from 5345 yards from the Reds to 6788 yards from the Golds. It's an even (36-36) par 72, with par fives coming home on both nines. There is a creek running across 6 holes as well as lateral water on the slicer's side of #3 and ponds between #12 and #15. The course also has strategically placed beaches on many holes.
It has a pro shop and restaurant in the clubhouse, putting green and driving range nearby.
From their history page:
"In 1962 on property leased from Cominco, construction of the Birchbank course began, with the first nine holes completed in 1964. The back nine and the clubhouse were completed in 1969. The course was designed by local golf professional Roy Stone.
Since 1962 several changes have been made at the Birchbank course including the reconstruction of several greens, hole relocations, additional bunkers and tee boxes as well as a new irrigation system which included the ponds situated along #12 and #15 fairways.
Rossland Trail Country Club has developed into one of the finest golf courses in the Kootenays and is sure to provide an excellent golf experience for every level of golfer."
