Camp S-111 (Big Spring) - Perry County, Pennsylvania

This camp was one of six camps in the Tuscarora State Forest District. Camp Big Spring was established on June 3, 1933 and lasted to the end of CCC in 1941. In October of that year, the men moved into wooden buildings. Some of the work they did induces at the nearby Big Spring State park, which was a public camp then, where they built shelters, restrooms and fireplaces, which some of these remain today. Inventory of trees within the area was also taken by these men as well. Work was not the only group activity these men took part in. During their spare time, sports teams were formed and included a camp newspaper.
