This Quonset Hut was added to Roach's in the late 1940s or early 1950s, from what I can gather from sources around town. Even the ladies at the store couldn't narrow it down any further than that.
Whatever the exact age of this hut, we DO know that it has been immaculately kept, and continues to be a vital part of the Roach's feed store complex, a functioning relic of Garland's not-too-distant agricultural past.

"In the tradition of old-fashioned and genuine customer service, this family- owned business has served the Garland area for 78 years. Haskell L. Roach and his father, William H. Roach, opened Roach Feed & Grocery on July 1, 1933. The name would later be changed to Roach Feed & Seed to reflect the change in the growth and needs of the community. In 1949 Jack McDaniel, who was a business partner with H. L. Roach in the Roach & McDaniel Grain Co., joined H.L. Roach here at Roach Feed & Seed.
Through the years, we have had a chicken hatchery and an on- site greenhouse which now houses our pet shop. The facility has largely remained the same, with the original wood floors and the smell of sweet feed. Each spring we supply baby chicks and ducks. We carry a large array of products for family pets, urban gardens and livestock and farms. We have the products you need, even the hard to find products.
