The liftlock was built between 1896 and 1907. The 140 long by 33 feet wide lifts (two) raise boats 49 feet. The lock is located at the highest point of the Trent-Severn waterway which runs from the Bay of Quinte in Lake Ontario to Port Severn on Georgian Bay.
