Wemeltje Kruit ( 09/01/1887 - 09/27/1963 ) was a sales woman and a striking village figure, which was called Wemelie, in the village Gasselte.
Wemelie earned the costs by using her bike to ride around with merchandise along the places in the surroundings of the Hondsrug and House to house to sell her stuff.
Her visit in a place in the Church by Sunday morning they announced on the spot to sit, giving residents knew that they would come along that week.
She lived in a caravan on the site of the current ice skating rink in Gasselte.
She died in september 1963 in Assen in the hospital at the age of 76.
