The Mount Isa Post Shop is located at shops 3/4 Isa Square, 27 Simpson Street, and provides a full range of services, with post office boxes available as well as passport business. It is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, closed Sunday.

Mount Isa is a city in the Gulf Country region of Queensland, which came into existence because of the vast mineral deposits found in the area. Mount Isa Mines (MIM) is one of the most productive single mines in world history, based on combined production of lead, silver, copper and zinc.

The presence of a lead mine and lead refinery in the immediate vicinity of a city is unusual, and the residents and particularly schools are 'lead smart', constantly aware of the dangers and acting to minimise the risks.

Because of the lead dust hazard in the mine and refinery area all employees are REQUIRED to park their personal vehicles under cover within the company area.
