The Grenoble-Bastille Cable car (Téléphérique de Grenoble Bastille) also known as The bubbles (Les bulles) was inaugurated on 29 September 1934 in the city of Grenoble and as the first urban cable-car in the world. The site of the Bastille, former medieval fortress, overlooking the Grenoble area was naturally chosen to become a tourist attraction.] The site, fortified a century earlier by General Haxo, had a natural promontory offering a breathtaking 360° panoramic view.

Parameters of the Airlift:
- Vertical drop: 263 m (863 ft); (altitudes 216 m (708 ft) to 482 m (1,581 ft))
- Length on the slope: 685 m (2,246 ft)
- Speed: 0 to 6 m/s (20 ft/s)

- 1 tower of 23.5 m (77 ft), located two thirds of the way from the bottom

Ever since, the Bastille has been a favorite outing for Grenoblois and tourists alike.More than 13 million passengers have been transported since its opening in 1934.

With an average of 250,000 passengers per year and more than 4000 annual opening hours (the average for this type of installation in France is 1200 hours), the Bastille cable car boasts an exceptional performance!
