Deze poldermolen is in 1809 gebouwd ter bemaling van de Tuinder- of Kogjespolder, een eiland in de Kagerplassen ten noorden van Leiden. Deze polder werd in 1686 gesticht en de huidige molen werd in 1809 in gebruik genomen.
Bijzonder aan deze kleine molen is dat het scheprad zich in de molen bevindt. De molen wordt nog steeds gebruikt voor het bemalen van de polder.
