This lighthouse is located in the east side of Ana Chaves bay, mounted on the ramparts of fort São Sebastião, in São Tomé, the capital city of Sao Tome and Principe.
It was first installed there in 1866 and upgraded in 1928, when it gained the current shape.
The fixed red light is mounted on the top of a 5 m conic tower, making an overall height above sea level of 14 meters.
