Sculptural group of St Jan Nepomucký
An excellent sculptural piece, composed for a front view, celebrated the Saint in a magnificent way. The general conception is based on a contrast of three horizontal stair steps, which are concavely deflected in the front, and four vertical pedestals. On a three-levelled basis there is a five-piece plastic group. The largest is the middle pedestal bearing the central sculpture of Jan Nepomucký. An incomplete prismatic underlying pedestal is under the main plinth, a stone water spring running in cascades over three fountain basins towards ground. In its lower part five stars are cut – the Saint´s attributes. The higher thin pedestal over the ledge is supported from its sides by vaults that are wider at the bottom and tapering upwards. Over the marked, amply moulded ledge there is located a uniform decorative link. It is decorated with a portly shell. A figure of the Saint, equipped with his attributes – a crucifix, palm and beret – rises from the shell together with four heads of putti. On his left side there is on an extended vertical pedestal a statue of Cardinal Karel Boromejský dispensing a mystery to a dying. Symmetrically on the left side there is on a decorated pedestal a figure of Queen Alžbeta Durynská passing bread to a beggar. Both statues are in the under life-size.
The monument consists of 74 stone blocks connected with mortar, concrete and iron pegs. Outer pedestals were in the past decorated by sculptural works which are beyond redemption now.
