Marcie is the sweet nerd of the Peanuts characters. She is the one who always referred to Pepperment Patty as "Sir" and was her best friend, regardless of Pepperment Patty's disparaging Marcie's friendship. Marcie is often the used to deliver the punchlines of the comic strips jokes. She loves music but didn't understand any of the rules of any sports.
This statue is attached to a park bench in Rice Park that faces toward Market Street in downtown St. Paul, MN. Marcie, true to form, is reading a thick book through her thick glasses. The bird, Woodstock, sits on the top of the bench by Marcie's proper right shoulder. Behind this Marcie statue is another one of Pepperment Patty kicking a football (see WM4TXC).
Since I had been walking around downtown sightseeing, I decided to sit on the bench to rest for awhile with Marcie but she didn't seem to mind when I started reading the book she had open along with her. True to her sweet temperment, she was not bothered at all.
