Spark Arrestor
Scrap wood was burned to generate steam power at the lumber mill. This metal cage was placed on top of an incinerator stack (chimney) to prevent fire by trapping rising sparks. The historic view of the mill is looking west on what is now Riordan Road. The large stack in the picture has a spark arrestor on its top.
