While on our way to the the Doukhobor Discovery Centre, we passed this "You Are Here" sign located at the intersection of Heritage Way and Frank Beinder Way: across from the West Kootenay Regional Airport.

This is a three sectional sign, with local information and pictures.
Also the center sign "Oostishenie" is placed showing the first tract of land purchased for a Doukhobor settlement.
A little history about the Ootishenie Sign:
In 1908, the Doukhobor Community purchased vast tracts of land in the Kootenay region of British Columbia. They first settled at Waterloo, an abandoned mining camp on the Columbia River, which Doukhobor leader Peter “Lordly” Verigin renamed Dolina Ootischenia meaning “Valley of Consolation".
All that remains is a vast vacant grass field.
