The set of weather instruments outside of the Corps of Engineers HQ building at Lake Lavon provide valuable weather data to help the Corps manage the lake levels for the Trinity River basin.
There are a wide variety of instruments here to measure weather, temperature, relative humidity, rain, and wind. They are professional instruments, managed by the Fort Worth office of the National Weather Service.
We happened to be visiting the day the NWS folks were there. The NWS guys were very kind to let 2 little girls and their mom tag along as they made sure all instruments were in good working order and calibrated. They explained how EVERYTHING worked and answered lots of questions.
