"Parc Penallta is a 200 hectare country park on the site of the former tips of Penallta Colliery. It is made up of a variety of woodland, grassland and wetland habitats with plenty of paths to explore and secrets to discover.
An award-winning trail has been developed called 'Sultans Ear Walk' which leads visitors on a tour of the beautiful country park taking in the many attractions on offer. The route was chosen as one of the Top 50 walks in the UK by Jamie Merrill of the Independent newspaper recently.
Of the 50 walks in Great Britain only seven walks were chosen in Wales. The six other welsh walks are located in well known walking areas such as Snowdonia, Pembroke, Gower and the Brecon Beacons.
