"At 45.7 772. is a junction with an improved dirt road. Left on this road to the DIAMOND CRATERS, 6 m., spectacular volcanic formations consisting of 20 craters that occupy an area of five square miles and are surrounded by approximately 30 square miles of lava of a recent flow." -Oregon: End of the Trail, 1940

Not much has changed in the 70+ years since the Diamond Craters were described in the American Guide Series. There are now kiosks and informational signs and the road is asphalt instead of dirt.
