This war memorial reminds the inhabitants of Voorschoten to the citizens who were killed during the occupation by acts of war and those who are killed later in other wars or in peacekeeping missions.

The war memorial in Voorschoten is a pillar of French limestone from Euville.
The inscription at the monument reads:

In april 2012 five stone plaques are placed in front of the monument with the names of twenty-nine people with space for future additions. The plaques are in a straight sloping line, starting below ground level to several feet above the ground. The whole is surrounded by simple brick pavement.
At the plaques are the names of the killed Jewish citizens from Voorschoten: Moritz Bottwin, his wife Rosalie Bottwin-Platz, her sister Henriette Platz, and Merdachia Naymann at Sobibor, and Lewise Polak, Mauritz van Someren and Heintje Cosman in Auschwitz.
Also listed Marselus Solomon, who died on 10 June 1945 in Theresienstadt, 90 years old, and Philip Kopuit who on April 27, 1944 at his hiding place in Voorschoten from angina pectoris is deceased. He was secretly buried in the garden of his hiding place and after the war reburied at Muiderberg.
Furthermore, there are the names of the Java Sea fallen soldier, who perished in Japanese prison camps and soldiers who were killed in the former Dutch East Indies, as well as a number in or near Voorschoten by shelling and bombing killed civilians.
