San Francisco De Asis, The Patron Saint of Sante Fe, Royal City of the Holy Faith of St. Francis
A full-length standing figure of St. Francis. He is dressed in robes, with head bowed and hands placed behind his back. At his feet, on the concrete base, is a gopher.
Sculpted by Andrea Bacigalupa (b. 1923) and cast in bronze by Nambé Mills, Inc., which was founded in 1951 near Nambé Pueblo, some 10 miles north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The sculpture was dedicated in 1980.
