I located this benchmark after seeing it listed on a topography map as BM 4225. The benchmark is in great shape although the original wooden witness post has burned down to the base from a fire that spread through the area in 2005.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 6.9 MI W FROM PEREZ. 0.45 MILE SOUTH ALONG A GRAVEL ROAD FROM THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD WATER TANK AT PEREZ, THENCE 2.65 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG THE GRIMMET ROAD FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 139, THENCE 3.8 MILES NORTHWEST ALONG A DIRT ROAD, 0.3 MILE WEST OF A POWER LINE CROSSING, 81 1/2 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF THE JUNCTION OF THE WEST LEG OF A TRIANGLE FORMED BY A TRACK ROAD LEADING NORTH TO AN OLD RAILROAD ROCK CRUSHER, 40 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 1.5 FEET NORTH OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT 1/2 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE ROAD, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.5 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE GROUND.
