This McDonalds is in the Hale'iwa, pronounced hah-lay-EE-vah, Design District of Historic Hale'iwa town. To preserve the historical look of this area all building are required to have an Art Deco facaude, including this McDonalds. The building that this McDonalds is in isn't the original building that once stood here. If you are interested in learning about the majestic building that once stood at this location visit Captain Rick's website as he talks story about the Haleiwa theater and a helmeted superhero in a pink cape, purple tights and jungle boots who tried his best to save the landmark theater. This McDonalds also has the distinction of being one of only two building that are allowed a permit to operate a drive-thru window in Historic Hale'iwa town.
