You never know what you are going to see at the great State Fair of Texas! (Our State Fair is a GREAT State Fair, you know. Don't miss it, don't even be late! -- apologies to Rogers & Hammerstein for that!)
For the 80th anniversary of the humble yet awesome Fritos Corn Chip (made locally right up North Central Expressway in Plano), the marketing geniusues at the State Fair decided to go for the World Record Largest Frito Pie. The Guinness guy was there to certify the record, and 5000+ people at the fair each got a bite of the world-record dish.
If the Blasterz had known that was going down at 11am sharp, we'd have been in more of a hurry to get there. While we missed the official proclamating, presenting, and speechifying, we did NOT miss the free samples of the world record Frito Pie. Neither did 4994 other fairgoers.
Verdict from our group: While Mama Blaster's Frito Pie is better, it is definitely NOT bigger!

The largest Frito pie weighed 601.01 kg (1,325 lb), and was assembled by Frito-Lay (USA) at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, Texas, USA, on 1 October 2012.
The Fritos Chili Pie was assembled in a U shaped chafing dish measuring 133 sq ft. It included 635 bags of Fritos corn chips, 660 cans of Hormel Chili without Beans and 580 bags of shredded cheddar cheese, which produced 5,000 individual servings. [end]
