Oak City Cemetery is located on Cemetery Street in the city of Bainbridge in Decatur County, Georgia. An estimated 4,000 graves are located in the cemetery, four of which are considered famous: Samuel Marvin Griffin, who served as the Governor of Georgia from 1955-1959; Miriam Hopkins, a film and stage actress who mostly played southern belles; Maston Emmett O'Neal, Jr., who served as a U.S. Congressman from 1965-1971; and Benjamin Edward Russell, who served as a U.S. Congressman from 1893-1897.
