The wall saw everything. The wall that gave access to the playground of School No. 1 to the Noordersingel in Assen. The place where the remaining Jewish population - 234 women and children, the boys and men were gone - in the evening of October 2, 1942 were driven to it. From there they were deported to the Westerbork transit camp. That same month, though almost everyone put on transport to the extermination camp at Auschwitz. Few survived.

On that wall that saw everything, next to the town, is today in memory of all Asser Jews who perished in the Second World War a modest plaque. "To contribute to the remembrance in silence and passing," explained Sam Drukker, that the memorial with his brother Flip made, far. The plaque was unveiled by Mayor Sicko Heldoorn and mentions in tight black futura letters that from that place on 2 October 1942 the Jews were deported.
