Averasboro was the 2nd to the last battle of the Carolinas Campaign. The participation of North Carolina troops in this battle is commemorated at Chicora Cemetery at the battlefield site.

This granite monument is located at Chicora Cemetery at the Averasboro Battlefield site in Harnett County. The monument honors North Carolina's troops who participated in the battle.
The main inscription reads:
"In Memory of
the North Carolina Troops
that so Valiantly
Resisted the Advance
of a Superior
Federal Army at the
Battle of Averasboro
March 15-16, 1865Fiftieth North Carolina Regiment
Seventy Seventh North Carolina Regiment
Tenth Battalion North Carolina

The left side inscription reads:
"Local Units Engaged Here
50th N.C. Regiment

Finally, the right side inscription reiterates a common refrain in North Carolina Civil War memorials and monuments:
