"Der Zwiesel ist ein Berg nordwestlich von Bad Reichenhall und der höchste Gipfel des Gebirgsstocks Staufen.
Er hat eine Höhe von 1.782 m. Zusammen mit Gamsknogel und Zenokopf wird er auch als Hinterstaufen bezeichnet (vgl. Fuderheuberg – Vorderstaufen).
Mehrere Markierte Wege führen von Inzell (Adlgaß), Weißbach (Jochberg) und Bad Reichenhall (Listsee) zum Gipfel. Zum Hochstaufen ist ein Übergang über den Mittelstaufen (anspruchsvoll bis schwierig) oder über die Barthlmahd möglich.
Am Weg von Jochberg/Listsee befindet sich auf 1.400 m die Zwieselalm mit dem Kaiser-Wilhelms-Haus (Unterkunft).
Da die Zwieselalm nur zu Fuß erreichbar ist, wird sie den ganzen Sommer über von der Bundeswehr mit Nahrungsmitteln versorgt. Die Versorgungseinheit ist die letzte Tragtierkompanie der Bundeswehr."

It has a height of 1,782 m. Together with the Gamsknogel and the Zenokopf he is also known as Hinterstaufen.
