NY0941 - Chase Mountain Lookout Tower - Klamath County, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

The Chase Mountain Lookout Tower is located at the summit of Chase Mountain. It is a metal tower that replaced a wooden tower in 1951. This tower is manned during the fire season every day until 6 pm. I was told by the gentleman running the tower that the benchmark survey point is at the very center of the base of the tower.

This tower exists in the NGS database and the datasheet info says:

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1953 (CTH) THE STATION IS ABOUT 14 MILES SOUTHWEST OF KLAMATH FALLS, 10 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF DORRIS, CALIFORNIA, AND 4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF KENO. IT IS ON THE SUMMIT OF A TIMBERED PEAK THAT IS KNOWN AS CHASE MOUNTAIN. THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE LOOKOUT TOWER, A WOODEN STRUCTURE THAT IS APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET IN HEIGHT.
