The gates are Grade II listed and the entry at the English
Heritage website [visit
link] tells us:
"Two sets of gates and railings on a low sleeper wall.
C19. Wrought-iron. Gates of elaborate foliated scroll design; those to the
garden surmounted by a roundel with a figure of St Pancras holding a martyrs
palm and the flanking panel to the left with a cartouche having the letters SP
entwined. Gates to St Pancras Old Church (qv) forecourt surmounted by a roundel
but the figure missing and the letters SP incorporated in the band below.
Railings of elaborate design, taken from the gates, on a stone capped brick
wall."
The reference 'those to the garden' is in respect
to these gates.
The gates are in three parts. The right and left pairs of
gates ar for pedestrian entry and are identical in design. The central arch and
gates are for vehicular access but the gates themselves are not as attractive.
The arch over the centre gates, though, is stunning
