The Jonathan Browning house and shops were built in the early 1840s. The two story brick house with attached gunshop were built for Jonathan Browning a gunsmith who was the father of John M. Browning, inventor of the Browning rapid fire rifle. He moved to Utah in 1846. The house and shop were restored by Nauvoo Restoration, Inc and are now operated as a museum and are open daily for tours.
