This pull-off area at Noble Meadow provides educational plaques that explore the role of elk in the native ecosystem. The plaques includes samples of fur and antler for visitors to touch and answer questions from the plaques. Elk may be found in this area as they either come down from or go up to higher grazing grounds. One would not expect such a rich exploration display on a pull-off in Colorado's Front Range mountains.

So few people ever get to touch these animals since they are wild and could not safely be approached. Elk are a large animal, yet crucial to the ecosystem by loosening soil with their sharp cloven hooves, moving seeds from one area to another and providing large amounts of income during hunting season to thin the herds.
