The Brigham Young House was built by Brigham Young in 1843 following his missionary trip to England. This was his second home in Nauvoo with the earlier one being constructed of logs. The two-story brick house served as his family's home until 1846 when he left for Utah. It was from here he planned the exodus to Utah for the community. The house was restored by Nauvoo Restoration Inc. and now serves as a house museum and is open daily for tours.
