Tank 103, also known as Tank S, was manufactured in several versions with different performance. The tank is unique for its relatively small weight, small target surface and extreme mobility. It was used by the Swedish defence forces between 1966 - 2001 and more than 10,000 conscripts have trained in it during their national service.
The crew consisted of a tank commander, driver/gunner and signaller/reverse driver. The two engines could be used separately or together. Two engines kept the fuel use low on long advances, and acceleration was quicker in combat. The chassis has a flotation device making it possible to cross deep waters. It took 30 minutes to prepare the tank to become amphibious.
