This Historic Marker tells of a church built my Mormons, torn down and the materials used to expand a hotel next door.

The church and hotel are both gone. The site is now a vacant lot.

Marker Text (required):
The Steeple Chapel was unlike other buildings in the area, with tall arched windows. It was built on this site by Mormon settlers with volunteer labor and featured a "Big Bell" in the steeple. It was also used as the community school. Granger Auto Court (Circa 1923) Clara Granger purchased the Steeple Chapel Church, and salvaged the materials to expand her hotel next door. The materials were used to build 10 rental cabins on this site.
