This place, located in the edge of Mértola, is a popular spot for the people who can't afford to go to the beach during the Summer. These windmills were originally built in a line, with one in each bank of Guadiana river, and one in the river itself. The river is about 170 meters wide there.

These mills were active since the Medieval Age, with successive renovations and improvements, until the new technologies took the milling task, in the 50's.
