Cette statue est connue comme la Statue de Lafayette enfants. Il a été conçu par le sculpteur, Paul Wayland Bartlett. C'était un cadeau à la France, à partir de cinq millions d'écoliers américains, à la demande des Filles de la Révolution américaine. il était a dévoilé le 4 Juillet 1900 à lien avec l'exposition de Paris et a été érigée sur la place du Carrousel du Louvre. Il a ensuite été transféré à son emplacement actuel lorsque la pyramide moderne de verre et d'acier a été ajouté au Louvre. Il est maintenant situé sur la rive droite de la Seine, le long de la Cours Albert 1er, entre le Pont Alexandre III et les Invalides Pont des. Une statue identique a été placé à Metz par les Chevaliers de Colomb en 1920. Une autre copie de la statue a été érigée à Hartford, dans le Connecticut en 1932.
La statue en bronze représente Lafayette à cheval, avec la jambe droite posée chevaux. Lafayette est en uniforme militaire, y compris un long pardessus. Sa main gauche tient les rênes tandis que sa main droite est levée, tenant une épée vers le ciel. La statue elle-même, semble être le double de grandeur. Il est situé au sommet d'un grand socle blanc de marbre, des colonnes ornées et Frieze Art. Gravé dans le socle massif, en anglais, est la suivante:

This statue is known as the Childrens Statue of Lafayette. It was designed by the sculptor, Paul Wayland Barlett. It was a gift to France, from five million American school children, at the request of the Daughters of the American Revolution. It was
unveiled on July 4, 1900 in connection with the Paris Exposition and was originally erected in the Place du Carrousel at the Louvre. It was later relocated to its current location when the modern pyramid of steel and glass was added to the Louvre. It is now located on the right bank of the Seine, along the Cours Albert 1er, between the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalids. An identical statue was placed at Metz by the Knights of Columbus in 1920. Another copy of the statue was erected in Hartford, Connecticut in 1932.
The bronze statue depicts Lafayette on horseback, with the horses right leg raised. Lafayette is in military uniform, including a long overcoat. His left hand is holding the reigns while his right hand is raised, holding a sword skyward. The statue itself, appears to be double life-size. It is situated atop a large white marbel plinth, with ornate columns and frieze art. Etched into the massive plinth, in English, is the following:

"In the American Revolution, Lafayette served as a major-general in the Continental Army under George Washington. Wounded during the Battle of Brandywine, he still managed to organize a successful retreat. He served with distinction in the Battle of Rhode Island. In the middle of the war, he returned to France to negotiate an increase in French support. On his return, he blocked troops led by Cornwallis at Yorktown while the armies of Washington and those sent by King Louis XVI under the command of General de Rochambeau, Admiral de Grasse, and Admiral de Latouche Tréville prepared for battle against the British."
