Since 2009, a South Lake Tahoe family and a youth art group called the
Sphere of Influence have been painting dozens of bland green utility boxes. These artists are using aerosol spray paint for the works.
The theme of this box is multi-varied, though a golfer appears on two of the four sides. The side facing the street shows a golfer and a sequence of 33 club positions during the swing. On the side facing oncoming traffic is another golfer in a fixed swing position. The other two sides feature a Tahoe-like mountain forest landscape done in black. The scene on the sidewalk side shows a red-yellow-orange sky, like a sunrise or sunset. The sky above the other forest looks like there's an enlarged atom showing the electron orbits.
I could find no artist information within the artwork. I have to say this utility box looks to have been "tagged" with graffiti on two of the sides, but since this is spray paint art, this might be part of the style of painting.
I noticed another odd feature on three of the sides that I couldn't decide whether it was originally part of the design or added by the taggers. A white cross appears on a red square (Swiss flag-like). On one side it's squeezed into the center of the atom, on another side it appears off by itself in a corner of the box side, while on the street side, it appears near the bottom in a rounded red background with a stem, almost like it is a flower. The sunset sky side has no occurrence.
