In 1905, Mr. Solomon Mier founded the Mier Carriage and Buggy Co. He produced many carriages and eventually he built 10-12 automobiles which he called the "Mier Runabout". One of these cars is on display in the museum in Syracuse,IN. Although the car was built in Ligonier, the engine was built by a man in Syracuse. A map from the Auburn Duesenburg Museum shows Ligonier as one of the many car manufacturers in Indiana. This mural shows a family out for ride in one of the Mier Runabouts.
