Marker Name: Atkinson Building
Marker Text: Fred G. Atkinson reportedly had this building constructed using bricks from the demolished Deschutes Hotel at Deschutes Junction. Shortly after its construction, Atkinson leased the building to the Deschutes Garage, which sold Nash and Willys-Overland automobiles. The building is best known however, as home to the Mayfair Theater. Here from 1929 to 1957, Milton Odem ran one of his three theaters on the first floor. The second floor was then used as a hotel, called the Menlo Hotel.
Built: 1922
