Eduard Novotný (23. brezna 1833, Lotouš – 4. ledna 1876, Praha) byl ceský gymnazijní profesor a jazykovedec, autor ucebnic, odborných clánku a dalších publikací o latine, rectine, staroceštine a tesnopisu.

Malostranský hrbitov, byl zrízen za doby morové epidemie v roce 1680. V jeho východním rohu stála kaplicka, zasvecená patronu morem ohrožených - sv. Rochu a vztycen tu byl i morový kríž. Zásluha o založení hrbitova se pricítá zdravotnímu radovi, lékari a profesoru University Karlovy J. B. Mikanovi.

Malostranský hrbitov svému úcelu nesloužil dlouho - roku 1786 byl vysvecen, roku 1863 rozšíren, ale již v roce 1884 zrušen. Dnes jsou na staré náhrobky s nemeckými, latinskými a ceskými nápisy, porostlé stále zeleným brectanem a jen obcas zde zabliká svetlo zapálené svícky.


Malostranský cemetery was established during the time of the plague in 1680. In its eastern corner was a chapel dedicated to the patron saint of plague threatened - St. Rocha and erected there was a plague cross. The credit for of the cemetery is attributed to a health counselor, doctor and professor at Charles University JB Mikan.

Malostranský cemetery served its purpose not for a long time - it was ordained in 1786, expanded in 1863, but already in 1884 canceled. Today, the old gravestones with German, Latin and Czech inscriptions, still covered with green ivy and occasionally there light flashes lighted candles.
