The Americus Hotel was built in 1926-1927 during the height of business growth in Allentown. The thirteen-story light colored brick has been a landmark in Allentown since its construction and was a symbol of the rising status of Allentown when it was built. The building has seen many years of neglect and closed in 2002. The building has seen some renovation in recent years stabilizing it from further deterioration and some businesses have returned however it needs extensive renovation to return to full function.
