The locomotive has been located in Fuqua Park at least since December, 1954, but had fallen into fairly bad shape. Starting in 2007, it became the centerpiece of an Oklahoma Centennial project. Much of it has now been restored and it has been moved to a location in front of a new railroad museum built to look like a depot. It used to be housed behind a fence; now it is meant to be enjoyed and climbed on.
The project is still not finished. Restoration of the locomotive should be finished next year. The final stage of the project will be the restoration of a caboose which will also be added to the display.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
