A model of an Apatosaurus-like dinosaur has recently been installed on in front of the Granby Library on Route 202. The model was originally on display at the town's former dinosaur museum. It was found neglected and in bad shape behind the building. The community got together to restore the dinosaur and find it a new home. It is installed behind a low fence and is wearing a black collar with a chain that is attached to a nearby sycamore tree.
The dinosaur is an appropriate symbol for Granby, since archaeologists have discovered many dinosaur tracks locally. The largest Therapod tracks were found here that became the state fossil. The town is currently holding a contest to name the dinosaur.
