EN: The Roman Catholic Church Heiligkreuz is located in an elevated location on the western slope of the hill Bruderholz. It was built in 1895 after plans by the famous church architect August Hardegger. The tower only followed in 1907. 1954/55 the interior was renovated, 1996/97 the exterior and the steeple.
The Holy Cross Church is the most outstanding neo-gothic church in the rural Basel area. It is significantly simpler than comparable urban churches, but still appears very monumental through its distinctive location.
DE: Die römisch-katholische Heiligkreuzkirche befindet sich an einer erhöhten Stelle am Westhang des Bruderholzhügels. Sie wurde 1895 nach Plänen des bekannten Kirchenarchitekten August Hardegger erbaut. Der Turm folgte erst 1907. 1954/55 wurde das Innere renoviert, 1996/97 das Äussere und der Turm.
Die Heiligkreuzkirche gilt als die bedeutendste neugotische Kirche im Baselbiet. Sie ist bedeutend schlichter als vergleichbare Stadtkirchen, wirkt durch ihre markante Lage aber trotzdem sehr monumental.
