The school building, built in 1892 at School Street and Roosevelt Avenue, was originally call South Side Public School and did not take the name Roosevelt School until the construction of the north side addition in 1909. Roosevelt School was closed in 1931 when Koening School was opened and was sold in 1941 to the Crescent Woolen Mill and is part of its wool milling operation today.
