The beginning of this gravity hill is well marked. It begins just beyond the Route 2 overpass and extends eastward for about 0.1 miles. West Shelburne Road appears to be a gentle uphill climb but actually drops 10 feet over this distance. When your vehicle is positioned at the overpass it will seem to coast uphill the entire distance. Most usually, you reach the start by travelling westbound towards the overpass. In this case you will notice that you constantly supply fuel to you vehicle to maintain your speed even though you seem to be going downhill.
Gravity Hill in Greenfield is well documented on the Internet. It is also listed by the Roadside America website as a roadside attraction in Massachusetts.

Additional information that will help visitors at the site:: Normally you travel westbound to reach the coordinates. If so, when you pass the Route 2 overpass you must make a U-Turn on a country road. Use one of the several roadside cutouts to more safely make the turn.
If you approach from the east you will be travelling on Old Greenfield Road , which becomes West Shelburne Road near the overpass.
